So. This is a curiosity, not a criticism. One that I am guilty of as well at times...

Why, when they are on the boards, and doing so takes only moments, do people not post?

I find that it is usually for a couple reasons, at least for me:
1)I get to a point in a series of posts where i actually have to do work (make a character, finish a system, whatever) and then put it off.
2)I am trolling, looking for entertainment, but am not willing to do anything more
3)I am in a hurry, and just checking for news

are there other reasons out there? i see alot of people on the boards at times, but they hardly ever say anything. and not just our boards, but all the boards i frequent.

Is it that people have nothing to say? are they lazy? are they afraid of criticism? do they not like talking online?

anyway, just wondering.

1)Most of the time I get online to see what is going on, and will only look at the games or topics that I am interested in or that pertain to me, so while I am on I am not reading everything and therefore there are many topics that see a lot of action that I don't reply to cause I don't read them.
2)There are many times that I don't have anything to say about a certain topic
3)There are times that I do have something that I want to say or to do on a topic but I need some time to think about how I am going to respond. (online stuff is great for me because I can think through what I am going to say before I type it rather than just make it up as I go along which makes my speaking pattern slow and disjointed)

There it is. We have heard from the only person I would expect to answer this. why would someone who doesn't post post something about not posting? I have wondered this as well, but ....eh. I have asked most of the group in person and didn't get a good answer (one that made a lick of sense, other than they don't like to post). I am happy to play with the four or five of us that post. The others are missing out. Or are they? We have not had much success online. Durden gained a lot of power through online play. So did Hiroshi. His ghoul become District Attorney online. Durden got his army, nightclub, and haven online. good times.

i think we have fun. sure, it doesn't always "go" somewhere, but i'm often very happy with just being. Life: the Living is often more fun than Quest: the Doing, or Epic: the Cliched.

Actually I will post a response to this as well.

I post alot to mundane topics wiki and other quick post comments. They are easy to do and quick to manuver in, they are the reason I have so many posts in general and suggestion topics forums.

However I am having a difficult time getting other posts done
Reasons are as follow

1. I am working on learning as much as I can of the NWOD system before summer game. I have read the NWOD main book, Ghost Stories, bits and pieces of Changeling, Vampire, Armory, and skimmed over several others. The reason I have read ghost stories is it was one of the second base NWOD system books which brings spectres into context. At the final 2-3 games of last summer my character was dealing with wraith activity so I figured I would read up on the system. Also Encounters seems like a game with a cool feel that ghosts could be involved in. If Gideon and Cheyne drop it I may be willing to later pick it up so Cheyne can play his Veteran.

2. I have character ideas for all games I have stated I am interested in. I am hovever getting sensory overload. I am inputting alot of data for NWOD. Since I am unfamiliar with it and have full range of knowledge for Dark Ages that has slowed my DA character development. (Not to mention work woes for me and Jason's overnight crew group) I am playing a character in Dark Ages (soon to be posted), Encounters (final touches almost done), Summer Game (learning some more system rules), Changeling (learning system rules and piecing together a background story), and probably on hold for current summer activities 7th Sea (not a forum based game I was running that has 2 game sessions completed). My hands are just a bit full. Making a character background is part of the fun of making a character I can get a character made in a system I am familar with fairly quickly, but putting the background I have in mind to paper takes me longer. I also like all forms of interaction conversation or battle. My Dark ages character requires a background reason to be where he is.

3. I am lazy and get focused on doing to many things at once. Enough said.

If I have someting to say I say it... but I tend to keep my mouth shut because in a lot of cases opinions are like assholes and who needs another one of those... in other boards I read I rarely post since I am reading for info and don't have the intent to add... hell I only have 1 or 2 I am registered in that don't require it just to read the board...

I tried just being in here without posting, but that really didn't accomplish what I needed to accomplish, which was you seing me in here not posting. It's ironic you see (but wait, the plot thickens).
I want you to consider this post not a post, but more of a place holder for me being in this thread, without actually posting on it. Yes, like a telepathic 'ding' 'ding' every time I walk through the door of the convenience store which is this thread. You will know I am here, but also know I have not posted.

I'm a Post-o-phile....so my input is kind of moot here.

But...if I'm on and not posting, it's usually because I'm waiting for someone else so I can carry on a train of thought, or story...or I simply have nothing to add to a topic. I like reading...a LOT...so that's one thing.
