New Year's Improvements/Restructuring

So, it is a new year. Many changes occurred in '08. We lost a friend, several games have went to the great beyond, and many people were for the first time too busy to dedicate their entire life to gaming (tragic...), to name a few.

For the new year, I (along with Steven; surprise btw steven) want to clean up the boards, reorganize, and provide new content. I started some of that today.

What would you guys like to see? Dice rollers are out btw, simply b/c we can't do the code. But there are other things out there that we could do I'm sure.

Also, is there a better organization scheme that people have in mind for the forums/threads? Something that should be deleted? Something that should be added?

Finally, I suggest that we start using the wiki more for the things we've been using the threads for. I'm an offender there of course, I haven't bothered to learn how to use it. But if we could do that it would be great i think. I will try to improve, or at least recruit someone to transfer my data over to the wiki... volunteers :)

So, if you are reading this POST SOMETHING so that we know what is good and what isn't... even if all you post is "i likes it just fine the way it is."

Oh. Last thing. POST. Conversation has been dying here, and I know more people read this than talk in it... make small talk, post articles, play games, schedule, but please do something... this can be, and has been in the past, a lively community. Please contribute when you have the time and energy, even if it is just to say "haha" in response to a posted article link or something. I like hearing from my friends.

I think lost knights is pretty good as is, but I was thinking that archiving threads that don't see usage for several months would clean up the site nicely. Don't know if you guys have the net powers to do it, but if threads that have been utilized in, say, the last 2 months or so were on the regular site and then a lostknights archive link could be used for the older links, and perhaps complete deletion after 4-6 months. I don't know what the difficulty of doing such a thing would be, but it might be nice.

I think that Ange's idea is a good one, it would clean up the sight quite a bit to archive unused threads.

I believe the ability to delete stuff is built into the board code. I have it all disabled at the moment, though.

This is the only thing consistently keeping me from earning a thread right under thaels RIP.

I'm not talking about an hero, more like...vanishing.

Whatever changes are to be made, for fucking hell shit cock ass head and hole back up everything before changing anything drastic. Yes, steven, I trust you, but we've been fucked before. And not by you. But you get the point.

well, assuming the backup button actually downloads a real backup (i've never had to test it), we are good to go. i just backed up this morning on haleys comp, and i have an older backup on my comp. not sure if steven is backing up as well (hopefully he is, that would be glorious).

hey, steven, what do you do to actually load one of these backups? you should tell me if i'm doin it right when u come over this weekend.

It depends on what you're backing up. I assume you're backing up from the Admin panel within the boards, which should have an interface for reloading the backups as well. I'm about to go home, so I'm not going to look just now. I'll show you how to pull a full-site backup tomorrow. It'll grab the wiki too

I post...I laugh, and I say I like it. I am not sure how to use the wiki thing, but it has all been good as far as I can see.
