I am thinking either a dragonborn paladin (possibly warlord, but unlikely) or a human (maybe half-elf) warlock.

Maybe alternating would be good. I was looking forwarding to playing. So many classes I want to see played, and so little time to build them.

99% chance I will be a theif, but I am waying my options.

I'll have to re-read the stuff as I'm not very familiar with 4e yet. I don't know if I do or do not want to stick with a Wizard.

For those of you more familiar with the system: Is the 'controller' aspect of the wizard worth pursuing, or should one concentrate instead on AOE type stuff, or some other strength I'm not seeing?

i would at least have area damage as a big secondary, if not a primary. it is THE minion killer.

The way that a Wizard is considered a controller is that a lot of their powers have damaging effects plus a condition that they give. Wizards are the best at giving a large group of enemys a debilitating effect.

You can pimp cold spells if you want.

from what i've seen they are also the best at minion killing, which is a big issue.

Yup, when minions start getting action points, they really need to die fast :evil2:
