So, I don't really play many video games, and I mainly limit myself to the DS. But for those that have one, I recommend Contra and Metal Slug.

Both are very fun side scrollers that require skill and pattern recognition. And both have a bunch of optional levels that are very entertaining and increase replay value. And, most important for me, you can put them down whenever you like and then come back to them without having to remember everything that was going on in the game (rpg's are out for me these days, as i don't have the time or the lifestyle to sit around for hours playing, and then playing every day to prevent myself from remember the plot/sidequests/etc.)

So, later this month, Transformers: War for Cybertron comes out on everything. It looks spectacular, the reviews indicate that it is as true to canon as possible, and it functions as a prequel to everything else, taking place on Cybertron during Megatron's ascension. Frankly, I don't care what kind of game it is, I'll be playing it as soon as I can. I was wondering if anyone else is looking forward to it. It's coming for PC, Xbox 360, PS 3, DS, and Wii, though those last two will be spinoffs rather than ports.

I saw some screen shots from it, and it 'looked' neat. However Transformers games in the past have been less than spectacular. Maybe this one will be a bit better. I can't say as I care all that much. I don't play many video games.

That said, I recently got a copy of Force Unleashed, and have already played through it twice. I just can't get enough. It is hands down the most enjoyable Star Wars video game I have ever played.

I'm playing final fantasy I on wii. It is crushing my spirit under the heal of its monotonous encounters. Yet I keep playing. Thus is the power of Final Fantasy.

I start Secret of Mana and FFII the After Years next (actually started FFII:AY already, it's fun, but I've been too busy to focus on the storyline so I took a break).

I recommend Breath of Death VII to those with Xbox 360. Purchase it on the Live store for 80 points ($1). Catch is you can only buy points in packages with the lowest being $4.99. Buy some avatar crap or something.

Game is very much like FF1 but in the spoofy loving tribute way. World full of dead things after big war. You are a skeleton warrior thing and others forcefully join your group. Few hours of fun. Simple system that's just complex enough to be interesting.

I'm finding myself at a loss for what to play...most of what I have tried has been rather dissatisfying. I did spend quite a while playing various versions of Lego StarWars and Indiana Jones - which were a blast - but replay value (at least for me) is low without a long cool-down period. What has my attention now is racing games (appealing to my Petty bloodline, I suppose); I'm playing Race Driver: Grid, which has fantastic graphics without being too fiddly.

if you have a wii, play some of the old nes/snes classics. Secret of Mana is on the Wii shop, and it's pretty good.
