Martial Arts

For all things involving beating yourself or others into a broken and bloody heap.

Technique, different styles, televised beatings, self-defense, and proper equipment are all up for discussion.

I have a bunch of prepaid lessons waiting for me at the Chin Woo temple in dallas, once I'm back in the states full time I plan to resume my studies. I've managed to keep the first form of the Tan Tui in mind and muscle memory, mostly.

This isn't really a sparring art, and I haven't learned enough of it to try to spar, but perhaps once I've gone somewhere with it I'll consider it.

On another note, I found Iaijutsu to be a really enriching art, it's offered as part of windsong, and though I didn't have time to continue it at the time I really want to return. among other things, it teaches a a massive attention to one's own body, and just the few weeks I was there helped me make more precise movements and showed me how to engrain things into my cerebellar reflexes in the tradition of some japanese guys ancestors.

I'd be up for tai chi or qigong in okc as well.

Anyone know where the muay thai school in OKC is?

I took lessons there for a bit in this, it is actually Iaido (which is distinct from iaijutsu). If other people look into going, I may start back as well, though she only teaches lessons on Saturdays at like 1pm which means, for me, waking up early. That said, its also not a 20 minute drive for me anymore since I'm right down the street now.

Practical application of taichi (still looks overextended to me, but doable)

Also, I think this body type will be Cheyne when he has a bit more muscle.
