I mentioned 3rd since it does target static values (like DV) and the style revolves around it (first charm is a 2m discount on 3rd when used in conjunction with this style)

to my knowledge you would still be able to use 3rd. it occurs in step 5a/6d. you could use the parry charm, then once you see you are failing, you could then activate 3 to suddenly pop over what you needed, converting your fail to a success. then the whole mess resolves.

those are terrestrial styles? huh, must have missed that. they sound celestial.

The very top of each thread he writes says what 'tier' of style it is.

little secret:

i looked at the names and the description for roughly 10-30 seconds, and said to myself "i think this would add variety to the game, and would be interesting, and would be more along the lines of what i wanted anyway. sure don't want to read this though. i should post that i'm using this, and they will read it, since it gives them power, and talk about it. huh, i wonder what they do... hmm, i'm hungry and tired. goodbye computer."

2:1 if i remember correctly. raises the value against a single roll, and you just recalculate the value based on the new dice pool.

First - Say I'm a Solar and I spent 3m on the 1st Ex to raise a DV. I then roll my three dice (up to 6 dice if I were a DB). Any successes I get raise the DV directly. If I got a 1, a 7, and a 10, I would get +3 DV. if I got a 1, a 2, and, 3 I'd get nothing.

Second - For every 2m spent on the 2nd Excellency for all currently published Exalt types, you gain +1 DV.

Both of these have the same dice caps they normally do. The main caveat is that no combination of excellencies can increase a static value by more than its current amount. So while you may roll your 10 dice (5Attrib+5Ability) for the 1st Ex and get 20 successes (all 10's), its not going to get you more than +5 DV.

thanks.. that helps alot

one question though on the example for the first
you showed spending 3m and getting 2 successes and gaining +3DV is this a typo or is it that you get the increase based on motes spent?

Oh no no no, one of those was a 10, and here, as everywhere but damage, 10's count twice.

At your request here is a website that has all the Avatar episodes for download, or just to watch. They aren't all the best quality, but most are good, and watchable.
