Getting the game going again

Post by arete »

So far I have heard from the following people

Angela
Cheyne
Paul
Temple
Sort of Gideon

That gives me a full party.

Now I was thinking of trying run this on a 1x per month on a friday schedule. This appears to meet most people's needs.

Any feedback would be good.

I have thought about it and decided that if people want I am willing to switch this to a main stay game, run on friday or saturday based on availability, and do it 3 weekends a month. The off weekend would float, and be decided at the beginning of the month.

I would be dropping out of my current game to make time so I would want a commitment from all my players, but I would be only working on this game. If people are interested let met know.

Also once we got done with mage I would have other games to play. IE: Vamp' 20th, Deadlands, and other way games

edit: this does not exclude the option of 1x a month. I am just making the offer.

I'm okay with this, either way it works out. I would actually like to get some input from gid, steven, zack and adam. I don't want to just stop doing things with that set of people, and I'd like to determine when/if they are interested in moving to a similar schedule. Alex has also been playing games on friday, and if we moved I wouldn't get to play with him anymore.

For my personal prefs, if I have to be realistic about the situation (see below for my actual desire), I would kind of like it if gids dnd fell through and adam could run on the saturday opposite marvel for a big group, leaving me the other saturday to do things socially. Then play 3 fridays out of the month in mage (or owod vamp), and leave one open for other social crap. But as we saw, fridays are a really iffy day due to work. And this would omit Alex unless he joined mage, which would suck.

I'm personally a little bored trying to organize people though, because it feels like whatever I do it ends up having a fatal flaw. While it was beneficial to see the impact of these smaller group games and such, the smaller groups are more vulnerable to scheduling issues and due to player overlap they fuck up scheduling. Splitting up was a good idea for getting fresh interactions too, but once the schedule is set up the split prevents player crossover at all and leads to stagnation eventually. Is this a better setup than the prior big games where nothing happened, and the same personality conflicts kept arising? not sure, perhaps.

I do want a 3-4 weeks a month game. I just hate the opportunity cost that has to be paid. I really like owod vamp, I kinda like nwod (and actually getting to interact with my wife), and I enjoy adam's pf game. But that said, right now I'd sacrifice all my current games for 2 games, running 3x/month; I want to see and interact with my friends, have a continuous plotline that isn't constantly derailed by absences/cancellations/play gaps, and that everyone can get into.

Edit: and Chet has got to be tired as hell of starting new games.

Here is the way I see it, nwod is basically dead. Andrea doesn't have much interest in it I think, scheduling sucks for everyone, there isn't a cohesive story, and few people want to run some of the time and nobody wants to run all the time. So i am calling that game dead. I am fine with Saturday for mage but to do that gid's pf game has to end if he is to join us. I was told that he and temple are a package deal so if he can't play neither will she. Friday nights are their date night so they are only interested in a bi-monthly game on that day (this was as of last night and he can jump on to correct me if that is wrong). So options are Friday bi-monthly, Saturday bi-monthly with gid and temple if his pf game ends, or Friday or Saturday nights 3x/month without them. I prefer 3 fridays or every other Saturday. What are other people's opinions?

I also want to make sure we are meeting the needs of the group, and remaining flexable. If gids and temple are holding up this game, but we have the people to commite to a acceptable schedule I will run an game. I have a ton of short games (6-8 sessions) I want to play, and 2 longer games I want to play.

That being said I want to play this game more than anything. So working with gideon is top priority as long as it is reasonable.

I am up for this game, pretty much either day and as many times a month as we can manage.

Gideon needs to talk to Temple before they commit to anything, but Friday once or possibly twice a month may be doable.

I put forth the following two ideas:

1) We should meet up this Friday and discuss this game slot.

2) If we are wanting 3x per month for this group gaming, but Temple and Gid don't want to game quite that often, we might try Mage for the times they can be there, and give Savage worlds a try on the off night. I think Jason's ran many good games, and giving this a shot wouldn't be a bad idea.

i don't want to start another game that will be bi-weekly. it just replaces the problem with another slightly different one. and if we were to do it biweekly i would play pf with adam (and am somewhat loathe to leave it behind for this new game, as I've enjoyed it).

I'll meet tomorrow night I suppose. Food is a possibility, but I need to see what my schedule looks like.

Gideon does not get off work tonight until 7:30ish and we were discussing going to Mimi's for dinner. I suppose we will head to Ang's after? As for game, I am fine with a Friday game 3x a month ( so long as it doesn't run too late). I have to admit that I really don't want Gid's pf game to end on Saturdays, though.

I think I'll be seeing all of you fine people here in an hour or so then. I have forgone eating out and am making beef in rice (since Temple will have already eaten) It isn't a huge portion, but people are welcome to try a bit. Also we can make a post-game food run if the session ends earlyish.

My idea's so far

Post by jake »

So far all I can really come up with without having looked at the books is a Order of Hermes/Mastigos with my actual function of magic being based on a Numerology type "science" that's actually based on the spelling of words and such, much like in Hitchhikers guide where they get the question from Arthur using a Scrabble Bag.
