Actually just Pathfinder. For discussion of rules, character builds, and anything else non-campaign related.

Thoughts On Classes/Races...

Post by rydi »

So far I am very impressed with human, dwarf, and (shudder of loathing) dragonborn. all very effective in almost any class. the other races don't do it for me.

the classes all look pretty viable so far, with the best striker looking like the ranger, followed by rogue, then warlock.

the defenders are pretty even actually, as the fighter/paladin are both great tanks, but fighters have more combat and self heals, while paladins are more support/leader type class, and actually imo make better leaders in some cases.

not impressed by most of the leaders, but i think warlord will be better than cleric, though i haven't really seen much of either.

controllers are in short supply, so there isn't alot to compare to. i think they are definitely good, but i'm not sure if the squish factor is worth it.

other people have thoughts?

Yes, I have thoughts almost constantly. Thanks for asking.

I like the cleric but I admit to some bias since I have liked playing them for a long time and it feels good to use one again

the warlock build I am interested in playing is not focused on the dpr and comes alot closer to control... the hellfire though might be fun to play if going for kills

I also want to play a ranger that can be either ranged or melee... there are enough powers (not always the best available though) that are not just ranged or melee so a character that is never incapable of using his abilities is made (maybe take quick draw to deal with the weapon swaps)

other classes are nice but they are not grabbing me with any urgency

the races are pretty much take em or leave em depending on my intent for the character and their ability to augment that... with a few exceptions

My Color is Blue
I value Knowledge, logic, and deceit. I love to pursue wisdom but also to manipulate and deceive. At my best, I am brilliant and progressive. At my worst, I am treacherous and cold. My symbol is a water droplet. My enemies are green and red.

Tieflings are extremely effective at what they do. 'What they do' is pretty narrow, though.
